Job Summary: The Referral Clerk will be responsible for handling the patient's request for referrals in primary care offices. Additionally, the Referral Clerk supports the Medical Receptionist by answering phones, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance benefits and obtaining pre-certification authorizations as well as other office duties including filing and pulling charts when needed.

Summary of Accountabilities:

1) Answering patient inquiries for referrals for diagnostics and Specialist care and completing referral forms both hard copy and on-line in a timely manner.

2) Assist patients with scheduling appointments with the practice they are referred to.

3) Call for pre-certifications and authorizations

4) Offers high quality customer service to the patients and their

families at all times

5) Answers telephones to support front desk operations when necessary.

6) Schedules appointments and verifies insurance on an as needed basis.

7) Assist with any additional administrative duties as directed by the Office Coordinator and/or Regional Operations Director.

8) Process records requests from hospitals, physicians' offices, patients, Social Security, Disability, legal and insurance, and determine fee for same.

9) Perform other clerical duties which may be assigned or assumed as time as needed

Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Required: N/A
